The rhinoceros rat snake is a species of non-venomous rat snake in the family Colubridae. It is commonly known as the rhino rat snake, rhinoceros snake, and Vietnamese long nose snake. The species is found in southern China and northern Vietnam. It is named after a rhinoceros because of its scaled protrusion on the front of its snout which is distinctive and prominent.

The Rhino Rat snake is native to the lush, subtropical forests of Laos , southern China, and northern Vietnam. It is highly arboreal, as it spends much of its time on the trees. Its preference for this habitat is due to its prehensile tail and elongated body, which enables it to climb the branches. It can easily avoid predators when hunting, because of its green color that helps it camouflage excellently in leafy environment.

Behavioral traits

Incubation takes 60 days, after which hatchlings measure between 30–35 cm in length, with dark edges on several dorsal scales and a brownish-grey color.

At about 12–14 months, rhino rat snake for sale changes color to steel grey. After about 24 months, they change to a green or bluish-green adult color. In some cases, a rare number of snakes keep their steel grey sub-adult color and do not change to mature color phase.
